Redesigning the Editor Panel
A strategic overhaul of Bubble’s primary editing interface to optimize exisiting user's work flows while targeting a new user business goal. Transformed a 10-year-old legacy system into a scalable, modern environment increasing usability and the speed of development.
ROLE
PROBLEM
The legacy editor created high cognitive load for users managing complex workflows, was hard to learn for new user causing and a lot of churn and relied on hard-coded configurations that slowed feature development.
RESULTS
Standardized UI Patterns: Unified how users access colors, gradients, and assets across the entire tool
Increased Speed-to-Market: Moved from a hard-coded to a modular system, reducing development time for new features.
Roadmap Alignment: Established a foundational architecture that allowed for the subsequent integration of mobile-specific design tools

Information architecture & clean up
I validated the hierarchy of all properties, cleaning up the component to find patterns that created consistency across varied elements.

Progressive disclosure interactions
Nested properties of additional surfaced interactions, providing the right balance of view and edit modes to prevent user overwhelm.
Strategic impact: Increase ease of learning and building
Modernizing the properties panel established a scalable, system-driven foundation that enables the team to ship features faster and more consistently. By introducing modular architecture, clearer patterns, and improved language, the editor became significantly easier to learn and navigate.
The redesign reduced key friction points for new users, helping them reach value faster and build confidence earlier. As familiarity grew, users were able to complete more complex workflows with greater efficiency.
