Overall stats
Building a Multi-layered Design System
Developing a distributed design system to bridge the gap between marketing-facing products and complex internal editor tools
ROLE
PROBLEM
The technical constraints of a traditional codebase versus a no-code product meant that a "one-size-fits-all" design library was no longer viable for scaling
RESULTS
Established Two-Tiered Framework: Created a "Global" token system (agnostic) and "Local" component sets (use-case specific)
Cultural Shift: Guided the transition from one-off implementations to integrated, cross-functional product teams using a shared library of components
Design Ops Excellence: Socialized a "Design System Guild" and a central documentation hub to ensure quality and consistency across all departments

System architecture & tokens
I set up Global tokens for color, spacing, and radius (S, M, L) while allowing Local sets for compact editor use cases versus flexible marketing needs

Collaboration
Conducted workshops to align on base values and set up a "two-way connection" model where different teams could contribute back to the system
Organizational Scaling
This system became the "source of truth" for the entire organization. By automating quality checks and fostering a culture of mentorship, we ensured the design team could scale without sacrificing product quality.
